Jordan partakes in UNWTO 48th meeting on tourism

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Al-Fayez, on Monday participated in the 48th UNWTO Regional Commission for the Middle East and the "Tourism Awareness and Human Capacity Building: Towards A Sustainable Tourism Society" conference.

During the two-day meeting held in Cairo, the regional committee, which enjoys high-level representation from ministers in member states, government officials, key stakeholders in the tourism sector and international organizations, discussed the "recovery policy for the tourism sector in the Middle East from the Covid-19 pandemic impacts."

The "Tourism Awareness" conference will discuss mapping outputs of tourism education to labor market needs, developing skills and behavior of workers and stakeholders in the tourism sector, examining the outputs of tourism education curricula, and raising tourism awareness among children and school students.

The conference will also discuss raising awareness among communities surrounding tourist areas, taking into account the new tourism trends and focusing on maintaining sustainability and combining best experiences and practices in this field.
